Finland and India recently had in-depth talks about strengthening their current educational relations. The two sides’ education ministries had a discussion about their respective policies for higher education, vocational education, and school education. In an effort to foster a more fruitful partnership, the ministries also looked at the possibility of developing more detailed recommendations and action plans.

Another area of shared interest was research collaborations, particularly in the fields of sustainability, climate change, AI, quantum technology, and new and emerging technologies.
The Indian side also provided an update on the recently implemented NEP 2020 laws pertaining to the internationalisation of higher education.Finland and India continue to work together on skill development and in higher education. In December 2022, the two nations signed a Migration and migration Partnership Agreement, which paves the way for further talks over the migration of skilled labour from India.
On topics of shared interest, including early to senior secondary education, postsecondary education, student mobility, and skill development, a joint statement was released.
In order to foster educational cooperation through the sharing of knowledge and materials in areas of shared interest, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and the Finnish National Agency of Education (EDUFI) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in March 2022.
Under a number of ongoing joint initiatives, including the Finnish Indian Consortium for Research and Education (FICORE), the Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning (GINTL), the Scheme Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), and the Global Initiative of Academic Network (GIAN), the two parties actively collaborate in higher education.
